Since 1998, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) has been participating in global efforts to improve quality care to women in resource-constraint countries around the world. Through its International Women’s Health Program, the SOGC provides training in emergency obstetrical care to health care professionals, capacity building of professional health associations, as well as research and evaluation interventions. The SOGC’s International Women’s Health Program uses a rights-based approach to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights, including safe motherhood and newborn health.
